Cotto Imprunetino since eight generations

Manetti Gusmano & Figli

In the Manetti Gusmano & figli Furnaces, located at the Ferrone, in the territory of Impruneta, Terracotta flooring and cladding tiles as well as artisanal Terracotta elements are made following the traditions of Impruneta.
The experience acquired in three centuries of activity combined with the uniqueness of clay translates into a material with unique characteristics. Galestro clay, present in the quarries of the Fornace, represents an exclusive peculiarity of the Impruneta area and gives the Terracotte special characteristics in terms of colour, resistance, strength and porosity.

The clay of Impruneta

If we want to discover how the clay that has always been used for the production of terracotta was formed, we have to go back very far in time and space. Our voyage would begin about two hundred million years ago, in the middle of what is now the Tyrrhenian Sea.
